On July 15, 2022, political consultations were held for the first time between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.
According to the information provided to SIA by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the delegations led by Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov and Malaysia's Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Kamaruddin Jaffar discussed the current state of bilateral relations, as well as political, economic, energy, they discussed the issues of expanding mutual partnership in the agricultural and humanitarian fields during the political consultations.
In addition, the parties exchanged views on the development of cooperation perspectives within the framework of regional and international organizations.
On July 15, 2022, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, Dato Sri Saifuddin Abdullah, as part of his visit to South East Asia and East Asian countries.
The level of relations between our countries was highly appreciated, and the importance of the political dialogue between Azerbaijan and Malaysia was emphasized at the meeting. Opportunities for expanding cooperation in various directions, including energy, agriculture and humanitarian fields were also discussed.
The Azerbaijani side expressed its gratitude to Malaysia for consistently and continuously supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country.
Views on regional and international security issues of mutual interest and partnership between Azerbaijan and Malaysia within the framework of international organizations were also exchanged during the meeting.
A number of other meetings were also held within the framework of Deputy Minister E. Mammadov's visit to Malaysia. The Deputy Minister was received by the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Malaysian Parliament, Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun in the building of the Malaysian legislature. He then attended a meeting at the Institute of Strategic and International Studies, one of the leading research institutions in Southeast Asia, BERNAMA - the State News Agency, one of the leading media outlets of Malaysia.
At the end The Deputy Minister answered the questions of the employees of "New Straits Times", "Astro Avani", "Utusan Malaysia" and "Sinar Harian" newspapers.
