President of Azerbaijan: “Azerbaijan resolved the Karabakh conflict, the need for the Minsk Group’s activity is no longer here”
“For 28 years, Minsk Group which has a mandate from OSCE didn’t produce any result. Therefore, after Azerbaijan has resolved the Karabakh conflict, the need for the Minsk Group’s activity is no longer here,” the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said at the opening ceremony of the IX Global Baku Forum on "Challenges to the Global World Order", SİA informs.
The head of state stated that everyone understands the impossibility of a meeting of the three co-chairs of the Minsk Group, especially after the Russian-Ukrainian war.
“We have already received messages that the co-chair institute of Minsk Group will not function. 30 years is enough, it’s time for retirement. I want also to state our position that any speculation about the Minsk Group in Armenia or any other country leads only to irritation in Azerbaijan. We have resolved the conflict. “Madrid Principles” which were elaborated by the Minsk Group have been resolved. Now we must think of ways to normalize relations with Armenia and sign a peace agreement,” the President stressed.
