Today, Speaker of the National Council Sahiba Gafarova met with Ambassador of the Republic of Chile to Azerbaijan Rodrigo Arcos. According to the info given by the Press and Public Relations Department of the National Council to SIA, the speaker talked about the diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Chile and the current state of our relations.
It was noted that Azerbaijan and Chile cooperate in bilateral and multilateral formats. It was also mentioned that both countries are members of the Non-Aligned Movement, which is an important platform for cooperation.
The speaker said that inter-parliamentary relations are one of the important components of bilateral and multilateral relations between the two countries. The activity of the friendship group with the Azerbaijani Parliament in the Senate of the Chilean National Congress is commendable. We believe that such a group will be formed in the newly elected Chamber of Deputies.
The Speaker of the National Council spoke about the importance of mutual contacts, visits in terms of raising awareness, getting to know each other better, and informed about the activities of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network established at the initiative of Azerbaijan.
Speaking about the 44-day war, Sahiba Gafarova said Azerbaijan was in favor of peace and stability. She stated that with the victory of Azerbaijan in the Patriotic War, new realities have emerged in the region. She expressed confidence that Armenia will fully fulfill its obligations and a peace agreement will be signed between the two countries soon.
Chilean Ambassador to Azerbaijan Rodrigo Arcos noted that his country attaches great importance to the development of relations with Azerbaijan. He noted that in this regard, the development of relations in all areas would be beneficial for both sides. The ambassador noted that his country supports the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on further development of inter-parliamentary relations and new opportunities for cooperation.
