The positions of Russia and Turkey on the issue of Ukraine do not coincide, but Moscow greatly appreciates Ankara's stance, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in Moscow, SİA informs.
"It's no secret that our positions do not coincide on this issue, but we greatly appreciate and treat with great respect the position that Turkiye takes, trying to approach the tasks arising from the current crisis objectively," Lavrov said.
He also added that it is necessary to resolve the situation in Ukraine as soon as possible: "If we talk about foreign policy issues, the key topic for us today is the situation in Ukraine and the need for its speedy settlement," the diplomat said.
