President stresses need for peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan

Armenians have purposefully ruined Azerbaijani cities, villages, mosques, and cemeteries for thirty years, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said after getting familiar with the reconstruction work at the Juma Mosque in Aghdam, carried out by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

"Armenians ruined and desecrated the Imarat complex. Now some of them talk about future reconciliation," the head of state said, as quoted by SİA.

"There must be a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The peace treaty must be based on the mutual recognition of the territorial integrity of states, according to the norms and principles of international law. I have already mentioned that. But the people of Azerbaijan should never forget the evil done in our lands," the president said.

He voiced confidence that the work done today, including in army building, will further strengthen Azerbaijan and will become a response to the revanchist forces in Armenia.

"We are in our own lands. We have returned to these lands at the cost of martyrs' blood and lives. We stand firmly on this land, and we will live here forever. Karabakh is Azerbaijan!" the head of state said.
