Serzh Sargsyan has revealed that Armenia used Iskander Operative Tactical Missile Complex (OTMC) in the 44-day war, said Armenia's third President in an interview to Armnews.
He does not agree with opinions on non-use of Iskander missiles by the Armenian side during the war.
"I disagree with the statements on non-use of Iskander missiles by the Armenian side. I have exact information that Iskander missile was concretely used at the last stage of the war in the direction of Shusha."
S. Sargsyan explained the non-strikes of "Iskander" OTRK in the territories of Azerbaijan during the war by the possibility of counter-strikes.
"If there were attacks, most probably, there would be counter-attacks from the opposite side. Most probably, no shots were fired for fear of this. It was necessary to use" Iskander' "on the 4th and 5th days of the war when Azerbaijan gathered a large number of forces in Horadiz and other directions," he noted.
So S.Sargsyan did not agree with the thoughts that the Armenian sides have not attacked Azerbaijani territories. At the same time, he acknowledged that rocket and artillery strikes were aimed at the city of Ganja and other settlements far from the frontline of Azerbaijan and that the civilian population was targeted: " Remember, a man boasted that he had ordered the destruction of the airport in Kirovabad (Ganja-ed.).
