In some media and social media pages there was a video of burning the body of an Azerbaijani soldier by the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia and one civilian.
Since an investigation conducted by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan showed that the video reflects reality, a criminal case was initiated under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan, the Prosecutor General’s Office told AzVision.az.
Currently, the necessary investigative measures are being taken to identify the perpetrators and take all possible measures to bring them to justice under the existing legal mechanism and international law. The public will be provided with detailed information.
At the same time, despite the fact that the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan initiated criminal charges based on this kind of video recordings and provided the public with detailed information, unfortunately, the Armenian side is not investigating crimes against Azerbaijani soldiers and civilians and does not take any measures to punish the perpetrators.
The Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan calls on law enforcement agencies of Armenia to take similar steps to take serious legal measures in accordance with the rules and principles of international law, conduct an open and fair investigation and inform the world public about war crimes committed against Azerbaijani citizens.
