Deputy Minister of Justice Togrul Musayev met with the delegation led by Thorhildur Sunna Evarsdottir, Chairman of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and member of Althing(Parlament of iceland) in Azerbaijan SIA reports.
The sides exchanged views on comprehensive issues of human rights, independence of judges, the activity of the Judicial-Legal Council, implementation of the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights, reform of the institution of lawyers and other issues.
Deputy Minister emphasised the importance of the Presidential Decree dated April 3,2019 which about protection of human rights and strengthening of the judicial independence under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.
The guest's attention was drawn to consequences of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and the rights of more than one million refugees and IDPs have been violated by the occupation of our lands by Armenia.
Ms. Thorhildur Sunna Evarsdottir expressed her gratitude for her next visit to Azerbaijan and thanked her for detailed information.
