"Aktor" Public and Social Research Public Union issued a statement

"Aktor" Public and Social Research Public Union has issued a statement on the fact that the European Parliament has failed to respond to the death of a journalist who has been on hunger strike since December 5 last year Mger Yegizarian, head of Haynews.am website, deputy chairman of the" Armenian Eagles: Unity Armenia" Party.

The statement reads:

"The fact that the adoption of the resolution on Azerbaijan by the European Parliament on January 17 was biased and non-objective was once again confirmed. It seems that the organization's decision about supposedly in our country to violate human rights, democracy and the rule of law is based on the political conjuncture and that it serves the needs and goals of some political circles. Otherwise there would be a reaction and corresponding conclusions to the death of the journalist who had been on hunger strike for 52 days, the head of "Haynews.am" website, and the deputy chairman of the "Armenian Eagles: Unity Armenia" Party Mger Yegizarian. It seems that this did not happen. The hunger strike, which lasted for days, did not disturb either the Armenian authorities or the organizations that told about abused international human rights. Rightly questions arise when members of the European Parliament made a hasty decision on the short-term hunger-strike of young Azerbaijani blogger Mehman Huseynov in Azerbaijan, voted unconfirmed and biased in the name of this body, and did not give the position to the death of Yegizarian ... The answer is simple - unfortunately, members of the European Parliament are often deceived by a number of organizations, individuals, and even some of their colleagues.

We would like to bring some attention to the European Parliament's attention. As a result of Armenia's aggression, hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijani refugees and internally displaced persons have emerged. As a result, their rights were massively violated. Has the European Parliament , which has always told about justice and international law, made any steps to achieve a fair settlement of the issue?

Have the adopted documents in which an Armenia been called as aggressive state? Naturally, no. This is a clear indication of the double standards set by the influential European authority.

Why did not the European Parliament demonstrate adequate position on the brutal dictatorship regime, fraudulent elections, political killing and other crimes that have been dominating in Armenia for many years? However, the fact that the

events in Armenia had to be well-known by the respected European parliamentarians. Did not you know that the parliament and peaceful demonstrators were shot down in Armenia, the political opponents of the authorities were physically eliminated, all elections were falsified, protests, hunger strikes were ignored and political prisoner Artur Sarkisyan who had been on hunger strike in March 2017 died? As you can see, the questions are still unanswered.

Thus, as the "Aktor" Public and Social Research Public Union, we urge the members of the European Parliament to stay true to their values, to avoid double standards, discrimination and Islamophobia. We hope that the value and principles you declare in the future will be timely and adequate to the processes taking place in every European country that will remain faithful to the case."
