Sweden works with Denmark and Germany to investigate Nord Stream emergency, says acting PM

Sweden is cooperating with Denmark and Germany to investigate the emergency at the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, Acting Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson said on Friday, commenting on information that Stockholm would not conduct a joint investigation with Copenhagen and Berlin into the incident.

"No, as I understand it that is not true. We are working together with Germany and Denmark in this issue," Andersson told Reuters.

Meanwhile, Swedish Prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist told the same agency that Sweden had rejected a proposal by the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust) to create a joint investigation team to probe into the sabotage of gas pipelines due to confidentiality of information. At the same time, he pointed out that Sweden rejected the idea of creating a joint investigation team with Denmark and Germany to investigate accidents at Nord Stream, but is cooperating with these countries on the issue.

Earlier, the German ARD TV channel, citing sources in the German government circles, reported that Germany, Sweden and Denmark had abandoned the idea of a joint investigation of sabotage on Nord Streams and would work separately. In turn, the Der Spiegel magazine reported that Sweden did not want to share the results of the investigation with Germany and Denmark because of the high level of secrecy.
