Azerbaijani State Customs Committee comments on claims of Member of the Board of Directors of the Iran-Russia Joint Chamber of Commerce
Information about great density on the Iranian side of Astara customs border point was disseminated in some mass media yesterday citing the statement of Seyid Jalalifar, member of the Board of Directors of the Iran-Russia Joint Chamber of Commerce. It was noted that the Azerbaijani side allegedly did it deliberately amid the tension of Iranian-Azerbaijani relations, said the head of the press service of the State Customs Committee Natig Akhundov in his Facebook account, SİA reports.
"The State Customs Committee notes that these kinds of information are baseless and fake. Astara customs checkpoint continues its activity in the enhanced mode and over the past ten days, more trucks have passed from Iran to Azerbaijan than in previous days that Iran officials may easily get this statistic from the relevant bodies of their country. When it comes to the density created on the Iranian side, let us note that this directly arises from the problems that occurred on the Iranian side.
Thus, from October 15 to 16, during 10 hours, disorder occurred in the computer system in the Iranian side and failure to cross the trucks during this period, as well as long queues during loading and unloading operations in fruit and vegetable warehouses in Astara, Iran led to density. Blaming Azerbaijan for the crowds caused by the problems on the Iranian side and politicizing it is unacceptable and causes regret."
