EU companies may participate in reconstruction of liberated lands
"There is a lot to be done to restore the territories controlled by the Azerbaijani government. If representatives of civil society and all other parties are involved, the work will be accelerated," said the head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Azerbaijan, Ambassador Kestutis Jankauskas.
According to him, discussions on the EU Partnership Agreement with Azerbaijan are underway: "The proposal of Azerbaijan related to civil aviation Open Skys is also on the agenda. We must not forget the main directions of our partnership.
"We are also in talks with Azerbaijan on issues related to the restoration of territories and reconciliation. It is a large-scale work. If the Azerbaijani government invites European companies to rehabilitate these areas, they will be happy to participate in these projects."
The Partnership Agreement between Azerbaijan and the European Union has been under discussion for more than two years. The new contract seeks to replace the 1996 Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) (which entered into force in 1999), the legal basis for relations between Azerbaijan and the EU. It aims to bring Azerbaijani legislation in line with EU law, providing large-scale cooperation in political dialogue, human rights, trade, investment, economic, legislative, cultural, and other areas of collaboration.
