Overchuk: Everyone benefits from shipping cargo to Armenia via Azerbaijan and Georgia
The shipment of Russian and Kazakh cargo to Armenia by rail through Azerbaijan and Georgia is beneficial for all parties, as evidenced by the growing volume of transportation, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk said in an interview with TASS, according to SİA.
He noted that agreements on transporting Russian and Kazakh cargo to Armenia through the territories of Azerbaijan and Georgia were reached "literally within a few days."
"The first cargo of grain, which arrived in Armenia by rail for the first time in thirty years, was Russian. Now fertilizers are starting to be delivered, and the range of goods is expanding. This is beneficial for everyone - Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia. Everyone has gained a new source of income, and Russia is directly involved in this," the Russian deputy prime minister said.
He also emphasized that the Russian government is interested in developing trade and increasing cargo traffic between the countries of the region.
"We are grateful to Azerbaijan and Georgia for their very constructive and effective cooperation in unblocking a member state of the EAEU," Overchuk added.
