Azerbaijan and Hungary held the 5th meeting of the Energy Working Group online, focusing on bilateral cooperation in the oil, gas, and energy sectors, SİA reports citing the Ministry of Energy.
Zaur Mammadov, head of the ministry’s apparatus and co-chair of the working group, praised the group’s successful efforts in advancing energy cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized that long-term collaboration has strengthened the energy partnership, turning it into a strategic relationship. “The cooperation between Azerbaijani and Hungarian energy companies is highly valued, reflecting a mutually beneficial partnership in the oil and gas sector,” Mammadov said.
The meeting highlighted Hungary’s participation in the Southern Gas Corridor and Green Energy Advisory Council sessions, as well as its support for Azerbaijan’s energy initiatives during the Baku Energy Week and COP29. Discussions also covered regional collaboration on green energy development and transmission, including the Caspian-Black Sea-Europe Green Energy Corridor project involving Azerbaijan, Georgia, Hungary, and Romania.
Izabella Feierabend, director of the Energy and Climate Diplomacy Department at Hungary’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and co-chair of the meeting, noted the successful expansion of energy cooperation across multiple areas. She emphasized the importance of experience sharing in green energy, energy regulation, and improving energy efficiency.
The session also reviewed progress since the fourth meeting of the working group, including updates on oil and gas, renewable energy, energy regulation, energy efficiency, and ongoing projects. The meeting concluded with the signing of a protocol summarizing the outcomes of the 5th session.
