Ambassador: Czech companies can be involved to 'Smart City' concept in Karabakh

On February 6, a hybrid conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic was held at the Center for the Analysis of International Relations, SIA refers to local media.

The bilateral relations and mutual cooperation between the two countries were discussed at the event organized jointly by the UNM and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Azerbaijan.

The Chairman of the Board of the International Relations Analysis Center Farid Shafiyev, who opened the conference with his opening speech, said that relations between the Czech Republic and Azerbaijan have historically existed at a high level, and as a result of these relations, a document on strategic partnership relations between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic was signed in 2015. The Chairman of the Board of the UNM noted that the Czech Republic is one of the countries that actively supports the development of Azerbaijan-EU relations.

Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Azerbaijan Milan Sedlaček spoke about the relations between the two countries and pointed out that the meeting of the Azerbaijan-Czech intergovernmental commission will be held in Prague at the beginning of March. The ambassador noted that relations between the Czech Republic and Azerbaijan are being developed in the field of culture and education, as in other fields.

Tural Ganjaliyev, a member of the Milli Majlis, drew attention to the agreement signed between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic on cooperation in the field of energy and said that mutual investments and cooperation in the field of energy play an important role in the relations between the two countries. He also talked about the common values ​​of the two peoples and touched upon the historical cultural ties. Ganjaliyev noted that the development of communication and transport is extremely important for both countries. The deputy noted that the implementation of the Zangezur corridor will open new opportunities for European Union countries, including the Czech Republic, to develop cooperation with Central Asian countries.

The former ambassador of the Czech Republic to Azerbaijan, Milan Ekert, spoke about the development of bilateral relations during his tenure in Azerbaijan. He voiced a number of proposals in terms of deepening relations and emphasized that Czech companies can be involved in the energy sector, as well as in the implementation of the "smart city" concept in Karabakh.

UNM expert Shahmar Hajiyev spoke about the economic and energy relations between the Czech Republic and Azerbaijan during his speech. According to him, the trade turnover between the two countries in 2021 was close to 307 million dollars.
