Former Austrian football player commits suicide

Former Austrian football player Gerhard Rodax has committed suicide by throwing himself under a train.

According to the Austrian media, the 57-year-old player died on the spot from his injuries, near the town of Trajschen.

Rodax fell seriously ill, which may have prompted him to take such a step, according to the reports. Rodax was married and had two children.

The 20-time team player experienced the peak of his career in the jersey of Admira Wacker, for which he played 192 games and scored 84 goals.

In 1990, the team striker at the time recommended his dream goal against Spain for a change to Atletico Madrid and finished runners-up in his season on the Iberian Peninsula.
