Basic Life Support training conducted for customs officers at the Central Customs Hospital

On August 4, 2025 a “Basic Life Support” training was held at the Central Customs Hospital for employees of the Main Customs Protection Service of the State Customs Committee.
The event was opened with a welcoming speech by Shahlar Mirgasim, Deputy Head of the Medical Service Department of the State Customs Committee. He emphasized the importance of such educational initiatives in enhancing customs officers' ability to respond swiftly and effectively in emergency situations. Shahlar Mirgasim stated that employees who can correctly and promptly administer first medical aid in emergencies have the power to save not only their own lives but also the lives of others, and that these skills are a vital part of professional preparedness.
Following this, the Deputy Head of the Medical Service Department, PhD in Medical Sciences Ismayil Afandiyev, delivered a speech outlining the goals, scope, and practical significance of the trainings organized by the Medical Service Department. He highlighted that such initiatives not only improve employees’ medical literacy but also enhance their preparedness for potential risks during duty.
During the training, Dr. Javad Jabarov, an emergency physician from the Emergency Medical Care Department of the Central Customs Hospital, and Huseyn Gasimov, Chief Inspector of the Sanitary Quarantine Service of the State Customs Committee, provided participants with both theoretical and practical knowledge on topics such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), airway management, artificial respiration, and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
In the practical part of the training, participants reinforced their skills by performing life-saving interventions on real mannequins. At the end of the event, participants were awarded certificates, and it was noted that such trainings would continue on a regular basis to ensure the ongoing professional development of customs personnel.
