Number of citizens of foreign countries, who arrived in Azerbaijan in 2021, is 792 thousand, State Tourism Agency told SİA.
It has been noted that the continuation of pandemic restrictions at border crossing points in 2021 continued to have a significant impact on the number of foreign citizens arriving in Azerbaijan, which, in turn, resulted in an increase in the share of neighboring countries in the number of arrivals. Among the top 15 countries with the largest number of foreigners, the share of neighboring countries is of particular importance. For the number of foreign citizens who came to Azerbaijan, Russia ranked first (258.3 thousand), followed by Turkiye (197.9 thousand), Iran (125.3 thousand), and Georgia (62.6 thousand).
In 2021, 84% of the foreign citizens who came to the country belong to the first 5 countries (Russia, Turkiye, Iran, Georgia, and Ukraine), among the mentioned countries, as compared to 2020, an increase in the number of arrivals was observed in almost all countries except Georgia.
