Tourist arrivals from Middle East to Azerbaijan drop by 14% in 1Q2026

In January–March of 2026, 38,414 tourists from Middle East countries visited Azerbaijan, representing a 13.9% decrease year-on-year (YoY), SİA informs, citing official statistics.

Among Middle Eastern countries, the largest number of tourists came from Saudi Arabia - 12,126 visitors, marking a 13.6% increase compared to the first quarter of 2025.

Other figures include: Israel – 8,972 (+18.1%), Kuwait – 4,751 (-25.1%), UAE – 4,750 (-54.4%), Oman – 2,513 (-33%), Egypt – 1,521 (-7.4%), Jordan – 881 (-22.1%), Bahrain – 838 (+2.9%), Iraq – 818 (+36.8%), Yemen – 434 (-23.7%), Qatar – 415 (-21.1%), Lebanon – 164 (-50.2%), Palestine – 135 (-23.7%), and Syria – 96 (+1.1%).

Overall, in the first quarter of 2026, Azerbaijan welcomed 484,400 foreigners and stateless persons from 172 countries, which is 4.7% fewer compared to the same period last year.
