From January to April 2026, as many as 658,500 foreigners and stateless persons arrived in Azerbaijan from 175 countries, a 10.5% decrease compared to the same period last year, SİA informs referring to the State Statistics Committee.
According to the data, 26.7% of arrivals were citizens of Russia, 22.4% from Türkiye, 8.7% from Iran, and so on.
Compared to the previous year, the number of arrivals from European Union countries increased by 17.1% to 32,600 people, from CIS countries increased by 3.5% to 251,500 people, from the Persian Gulf countries decreased by 27.8% to 85,100 people, and from other countries by 16.7% to 289,300 people.
Over the first four months, the total number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad decreased by 4.8% year-on-year to 602,400. Some 40.8% of citizens traveled to Türkiye (a 7.5% increase compared to the same period last year), 16.8% to Russia (-1%), 10.8% to Georgia (-7.1%), 7.9% to Iran (-31.4%), and so on.
Some 69.7% of citizens traveled by air, 28.2% by rail and road, and 2.1% by sea.
