Azerbaijan and the Maldives have implemented a mutual visa-free regime for short-term visits starting from today, SİA informs, citing a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
The necessary domestic procedures for the entry into force of the "Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Maldives on mutual exemption from visa requirements for citizens holding ordinary passports," signed on September 24, 2025, in New York City, have reportedly been completed.
Accordingly, in line with the relevant provisions of the agreement, the document enters into force on April 29, 2026.
Under the agreement, citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan holding valid ordinary passports and citizens of the Republic of Maldives holding valid ordinary passports are exempted from the visa requirement to enter, leave, or transit through the territory of the other party's state, as well as to stay in that territory for a period not exceeding 90 (ninety) days from the date of entry.
