The number of tourists visiting Armenia in 2024 has decreased by approximately 7% compared to the previous year, according to Gevorg Papoyan, the Minister of Economy of Armenia.
SİA informs via Armenian media that the minister shared these insights while summarizing the outcomes of the past year.
"In December 2024, Armenia welcomed 134,000 visitors, which is roughly 2,000-3,000 fewer tourists compared to the same period in 2023," stated Papoyan. "Overall, the country received 2,215,000 tourists throughout 2024, a 7% decline from the figures recorded in 2023."
The minister attributed this reduction in tourist influx primarily to the diminishing number of visitors from Russia.
