Turkish entrepreneurs suggest that the number of hotels operating on an "all-inclusive" basis in the country may decrease in the future.
Mustafa Korkutata, a member of the Ankara Young Entrepreneurs Association, told the Türkiye newspaper that the all-inclusive system has turned into "consumer terrorism".
"Annually, 50 billion liras (approximately $1.4 billion) are wasted. The number of tourist accommodation facilities that apply the all-inclusive system will be reduced," Korkutata believes. He noted that all-inclusive leads to the spoilage of vast amounts of food that hotels fail to fully utilize. On average, 200-400 grams of food are thrown away from each plate.
The businessman believes that hotels will try to transition to a new scheme of providing meals to vacationers in the future. In this regard, hotels and restaurants can build a new cooperation scheme.
"Tourists will be taken out of the hotel in the evenings, driven around city centers, and then taken to dinner at restaurants with which there are agreements. Thanks to this method, businesses will be able to earn better and also compete more effectively, for example, with neighboring Greece in terms of prices," he said.
