The number of tourists Azerbaijan received from 178 countries in 2022 was 1,602,300, a twofold increase compared to the previous year, SİA informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

Among the tourists, 27.9% came from Russia, 19.5% from Turkiye, 10.6% from Iran, 6% from Saudi Arabia, 5.1% from Georgia, 3.8% from India, 3.2% from Pakistan, 2.6% from the UAE, 1.9% from Kazakhstan, 1.7% from Ukraine, 1.6% from Uzbekistan, 1.5% from Israel, 1.4% from Kuwait, 1.2% from each of Oman and Belarus, and 10.8% from other countries. Men constituted 74.8%, while women comprised 25.2% of the foreigners.

Compared to the same period last year, the number of arrivals from Oman increased by 20.4 times, from Pakistan by 17.5 times, Saudi Arabia by 10.9 times, India by 10.6 times, Kuwait by 9.9 times, Uzbekistan by 6.2 times, Kazakhstan by 4.4 times, Israel by 3.6 times, the US by 2.8 times, the UAE by 2.4 times, Germany by 2.4 times, France by 2.1 times, Great Britain by 1.9 times, Russia by 1.7 times, Ukraine by 1.6 times, Turkiye by 1.6 times, Iran by 36% and Georgia by 31.2%.

In contrast to a year earlier, the number of tourists from the Gulf countries grew by 2.3-fold to 357,900, from EU member states by 2.1 times to 73,300, and from CIS countries by 1.9 times to 569,800.
