Tourism is an important tool for promoting Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency Fuad Naghiyev said.
He was speaking at the International Conference on “The Role of UNESCO Conventions Concerning the Protection of Cultural Properties and Aspects of Improving Their Implementation” jointly organized by the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO, the ICOMOS Azerbaijan National Committee and the Institute for Development and Diplomacy (IDD) of the ADA University.
Naghiyev noted that the Azerbaijan Tourism Agency cooperates on these issues through participation in international projects.
Naghiyev added that the Agency is involved in reconstruction projects in Karabakh and East Zangazur.
“Under the 1972 Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, this is a priority mission for us,” he said.
