United Kingdom transport minister Grant Shapps, also running for the country's next prime minister, stated in an article for The Times that the British defense spending must be raised to 3% of the total gross domestic product (GDP), SİA reports citing Teletrader.

"As prime minister, I will raise defense spending to 3% of GDP, in contrast to the Nato-recommended minimum of 2%," Shapps underlined.
