Moscow comments on ‘referendum’ calls in occupied territories

Official Moscow commented for the first time on calls for a "referendum" in the so-called Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) in the Donbas region of Ukraine, as well as in the occupied Kherson, Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, former President of the country, wrote on Telegram.

According to him, holding "referendums" will completely change the development vector of Russia:

"After the entry of new territories into the Russian Federation, geopolitical transformation in the world will become irreversible. Intervention on Russian territory will allow the use of all self-defense forces. After the changes to the constitution, no future leader of Russia will be able to undo anything"

According to Medvedev, Kyiv and the West are afraid of "referendums":

"That is why it is important to hold them."

On September 20, the "public chambers" of the "DPR" and "LPR" called for holding a "referendum" on annexation to Russia. At the same time, today, the occupation administration of Kherson announced that it will hold a similar "voting".

American analysts believe that this step by the separatists will put Russia in a "strange and humiliating situation".
