A concert by the Brazilian State Symphony Orchestra was held - Photos

We would like to inform you that a concert of the Brazilian State Symphony Orchestra dedicated to Shusha, the cradle of Azerbaijani music, and the 100th anniversary of our great composer Fikret Amirov was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on April 6 as part of the promotion of Azerbaijani music in world professional music culture. While speaking at the opening of the event, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Brazil Elkhan Polukhov noted that 2022 was declared the Year of Shusha by the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and noted that the concert was dedicated to this significant event. In his speech, the ambassador said that in November 2022, a grand event will be organized on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the world-famous composer, well-known public figure Fikret Amirov in accordance with the Presidential Decree. The ambassador informed the concert participants about the great representative of the Azerbaijan School of Composers, the founder of the symphonic mugam genre Fikret Amirov, who made an unprecedented contribution to our opulent cultural music as a powerful artist with a colorful creative palette.

The ambassador noted that the inclusion of the 100th anniversary in the UNESCO program of anniversaries of prominent personalities and significant events for 2022-2023 is a manifestation of the high appreciation of the art of Fikret Amirov at the international level.

Noting that Brazil and Azerbaijan have a deep connection in the field of music, as in all areas, the Ambassador noted that this connection is developing in an upward manner.

Then, the Brazilian State Symphony Orchestra, conducted by maestro Yalchin Adigozalov, presented an extensive music program to the audience. On this significant evening, the concert audience got acquainted with Fikret Amirov's "Azerbaijani Capriccio", "Kurd Ovshari" Symphonic Mugam, "Nasimi Epic" and Vasif Adigozalov's concert for piano and orchestra No. 3. On the piano, famous Brazilian pianist, Christian Budu, winner of Brazilian and international awards, presented the South American premiere of the work.

The concert took place in the Grande Sala Hall of Cidade Das Arches, the largest concert center in Rio de Janeiro, and was met with great interest by a large audience. Along with the local audience, the concert was attended by employees of the city hall, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Brazil, teachers and students of the Azerbaijani municipal school in Rio de Janeiro and foreign guests. At the end of the concert, the orchestra and conductor were applauded by all the audience, and maestro Yalchin Adigozalov was invited to the stage several times.

It should be noted that the concert, conducted by conductor Yalchin Adigozalov, was the first musical event dedicated to Azerbaijan after the Covid-19 pandemic in Brazil. Over the past 10 years, maestro Adigozalov has held a total of 6 concerts in Brazil and introduced local listeners to the pearls of Azerbaijani music, making them love our music.
