The International Travel Exhibition (ITE HCMC 2025), considered the largest tourism fair in the Mekong subregion, has opened in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s economic and financial hub, SİA reports citing Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Vietnam.
The event brings together tourism leaders, business representatives, and government officials from across the world, with Azerbaijan participating for the first time with a national stand.
This debut aims to promote Azerbaijan’s tourism potential and further strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries. The participation is supported by the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau along with private sector companies.
Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Vietnam date back to 1959, and in 2025 the two nations elevated their partnership to the level of strategic cooperation. Tourism is seen as a priority area of collaboration, with recent years witnessing significant growth in mutual tourist visits. Vietnam, which aims to attract 25 million visitors this year, also records nearly 10 million outbound travelers annually.
As part of the program, representatives from Baku City Executive Authority are expected to hold meetings in Vung Tau, a city within the Ho Chi Minh region, and visit Baku Street, named in 1987 to honor Azerbaijani oil workers’ contribution to Vietnam’s oil industry. Notably, Baku’s Khatai district also has a street named after Vung Tau.
Azerbaijan’s debut at the exhibition is viewed as an important step toward boosting cooperation in tourism, business and culture. With its rich heritage and unique location at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, Azerbaijan offers new opportunities for Vietnamese tourists and business circles.
The national stand not only highlights Azerbaijan’s tourism potential but also serves as a platform for B2B meetings and partnerships. The joint participation of Azerbaijani companies and Baku City Executive Authority officials reflects the country’s long-term interest in expanding cooperation with Vietnam and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
By joining the exhibition for the first time, Azerbaijan is paving the way for new tourism initiatives, business and cultural projects, while further deepening friendship and strategic partnership between the two nations.
