Attempt to misappropriate Azerbaijani melodies by Armenian harmonica player prevented
The Intellectual Property Agency of Azerbaijan has prevented an attempt by Armenian harmonica player Gagik Stepanyan to present popular Azerbaijani melodies — "Bəs nə deyim", "Ay bəri bax", "Niyə yox deyirsən", and "Güman yeri var" — as Armenian music.
The Agency told SİA that Gagik Stepanyan performed a medley of the mentioned melodies on the harmonica and published the video on YouTube, presenting it as Armenian music without crediting the original titles or the names of the composers.
As a result of measures taken by the Agency, and with technical support from the Digital and Audiovisual Broadcasting Industry (RAYS) — which collectively manages the property rights of authors, performers, and phonogram producers in digital networks — the video by Stepanyan was removed from YouTube.
