Wife of General Secretary of Vietnam’s Communist Party visits Icherisheher
The wife of the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Ngo Phuong Ly, visited Icherisheher, which is included in the list of world cultural heritage sites, on May 8, SİA informs.
Ngo Phuong Ly's tour of Icherisheher began at the historical architectural monument, the Maiden Tower.
She was informed about the history of the construction of the fortress walls.
It was noted that the Maiden Tower, founded in the VII-VI centuries BC, was restored in the XII century. The monument, which is 28 meters high with a diameter of 16-16.5 meters, consists of a cylindrical main tower and a large supporting structure attached to it on the south side.
The visitor who entered the Maiden Tower was provided with detailed information about the internal structure of the monument, its past functions, and archaeological findings.
The exhibition in the nearby Sirataghly religious-architectural complex area aroused great interest in the General Secretary's wife.
During the tour, Ngo Phuong Ly was also given detailed information about the Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve, which is included in UNESCO's World Heritage List, as well as the repair, improvement, and restoration work carried out here.
It was noted that unique historical architectural monuments from different centuries are preserved in the Icherisheher area.
The visitor was also introduced to the Dastan brand created at the Icherisheher Traditional Art Center. She was provided with detailed information about the projects implemented by this brand in the direction of preserving and promoting our national heritage, as well as the handicrafts and art samples presented.
Here, the General Secretary's wife was presented with a Kharibulbul brooch and a souvenir dish decorated with Karabakh carpet ornaments as a memorial gift.
During the tour, Ngo Phuong Ly was briefed on the Underground Bath. It was noted that this historical-architectural monument, dating back to the early XVII century, is located in the south-eastern part of Icherisheher. The bath, built from corner stones, reflects the urban bath traditions of that period with its architectural style and unique features.
During the tour of Icherisheher, Mrs. No Phuong Ly was treated to hot tandoor bread.
During the tour, the General Secretary's wife also got acquainted with the Shirvanshahs Palace Complex, a masterpiece of medieval Eastern architecture and a historical-architectural monument of world importance. It was noted that the buildings of the historical monument, built in the early XV century, are located at the highest point of one of the hills of Icherisheher. It is clearly visible from the Caspian Sea and the heights surrounding the city. The complex still maintains its historical-architectural superiority to this day.
The visit to Icherisheher left a pleasant impression on Mrs. No Phuong Ly.
