Sabina Hajiyeva: Armenians stole frescoes from walls of Khudavang monastery

During the occupation, Armenians stole and took away frescoes from the walls of the Khudavang monastery from the territory of Azerbaijan, Sabina Hajiyeva, the head of the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, said at the 1st Cultural Forum of the Islamic World in Shusha, Report informs.

According to her, Azerbaijan conducted research in the Khudavang monastery and studied archaeological data.

"We have established that the Armenians took away important artifacts, including frescoes from the walls," she said.

Hajiyeva also said that during the years of occupation, the Armenians used the Azykh cave, one of the oldest human habitats, as a weapons depot.
