Azerbaijani MPs have participated in an international conference marking the 95th anniversary of Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov in Bishkek. The event was held as part of the autumn session of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly.
Addressing the event, Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlanbek Shakiev, Chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev and Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko highlighted the literary heritage of the outstanding writer, describing his works as a "golden bridge" between the nations, as well as praised his great contribution to strengthening friendship between the peoples.
Following the event, the award named after Chingiz Aitmatov was presented to academician Abdyldajan Akmataliev.
