Armenia destroyed mosques and other monuments of Turkic culture both on its territory and during the years of occupation in the Azerbaijani territories of Azerbaijan, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said in a video address as part of the 9th Meeting of the National Commissions for UNESCO of the TURKSOY Member States held April 7 at ADA University.
The minister added that Shusha, the cultural capital of the entire Turkic world, was also destroyed during the years of Armenian occupation.
“Over the past 30 years, Armenia prevented the sending of fact-finding missions to the then-occupied territories. In turn, Azerbaijan immediately after their liberation allowed a similar mission to be sent there,” the foreign minister noted.
He added that today Azerbaijan is actively working to restore the de-occupied territories, and the Turkic countries provide great support in this matter.
“I am grateful to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan for the construction of schools in Fuzuli,” Bayramov concluded.
