Turkish Director's documentary to be showcased at True/False Film Fest

Turkish film director and producer Darvish Zaim's documentary "Tavuri" has been invited to the "True/False" film festival held in the United States, SIA refers to Turkish media.

Taking place March 2-5, 2023 in Columbia, Missouri, the 20th edition of the festival aims to develop and expand the non-fiction film experience. This year, 33 full-length non-fiction documentaries from different countries of the world will be screened at the festival, which brings together artists and has no competition section. Among those films, Darvish Zaim's documentary film "Tavuri" differs from his previous films in terms of theme, genre and approach.

The documentary tells about the life of Mustafa Serttas, nicknamed the Devil (Tavuri), who spent half his life behind bars for theft and fraud. Mustafa Serttas, a primary school dropout raised in a poor, broken home in Cyprus, began stealing as a child. He later developed this early experience into a lifestyle or, as he put it, an 'obsession'.

Director, Dervis Zaim knew Mustafa Serttas from the age of eight. The director managed to film the last five years of his life, right up until his death. Some of the filming was carried out during Serttas' time in jail.
