During the monitoring, it was revealed that the cultural heritage of Azerbaijan was deliberately destroyed and the historical monuments were intentionally changed during the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia, Minister of Culture Anar Karimov said at the international scientific conference on “The Role of UNESCO Conventions Concerning the Protection of Cultural Properties and Aspects of Improving Their Implementation,” SİA informs.
The conference was organized by the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO, the ICOMOS Azerbaijan National Committee, the ICOM Azerbaijan National Committee, and the Institute for Development and Diplomacy at ADA University.
“411 historical and cultural monuments were inspected, and 864 cultural institutions were monitored. It was revealed during the monitoring that they were deliberately destroyed, and a number of historical monuments were intentionally changed. Representatives of international organizations who visited the liberated territories have also seen this,” the minister said.
