Azerbaijan has formed a powerful modern army that implemented the dream the Azerbaijanis cherished for a quarter of a century - the victory in the Karabakh war, Russian political scientist, director of the Center for Political Studies Sergey Markov told Report's Russian bureau.
"I congratulate the people of Azerbaijan on the brilliant victory of two years ago. The Azerbaijani people have done a great deal for this victory. By winning the Karabakh war, Azerbaijan has joined a new league of countries, the league of winners. This spirit of a winner will undoubtedly be realized in very different projects of the future, help Azerbaijan create a modern highly technological economy, promote consolidation of the society. Such an attitude among the public prevents potential conflicts and provocations, will help attract billions of investments and give authority to Azerbaijan's voice in the international arena," Markov said.
He stressed the special role of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, in the victory in the Second Karabakh War.
"President Ilham Aliyev personally played an immense role in Azerbaijan's victory in the Second Karabakh War. He became a real hero of the Azerbaijani people and inscribed his name in golden letters in the history of the country. Ilham Aliyev managed to implement several important tasks for this victory. He managed to consolidate the political will of the people for liberation of Karabakh, he managed to create a powerful army that made victories. In order to have a powerful army, he pursued the right economic course, which ensured rapid economic development," Markov said.
The Russian political expert also noted that the positive image of the country and favorable public opinion in the world were created owing to the work done by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. He also stressed Turkiye's important role as a special ally for Azerbaijan.
"We wish peace and prosperity to the Azerbaijani people, creation of a powerful center of development in the South Caucasus region, where various countries will interact with each other and Azerbaijan will be the leader of such development," the political expert said.
