Bulgaria's Parliament approves military aid for Ukraine

Bulgarian lawmakers have given the government a month to devise military aid plan for Ukraine.

The local government will decide within a month what kind of weapons will be sent to Ukraine and whether it will harm Bulgaria's defense capabilities.

With 175 votes "for" and 49 "against" on a six point plan, lawmakers approved the military aid in principal and decided the cabinet needed to launch talks with Bulgaria's NATO allies to replace or boost its defense capabilities and allow for a faster freeing up of its Soviet-era military equipment, SIA reports, citing foreign media.

At present, Bulgaria has agreed to repair Ukrainian military equipment at its facilities, but the country has not sent military aid due to objections from President Rumen Radev and some of the political parties back in May.
