Biden has no plans of meeting with Putin during G20 summit

US President Joe Biden is not seeking to hold a bilateral meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Indonesia, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said.

In the transcript of an interview to CBC, released by the US Department of State, Blinken gave a negative answer to the question of whether the US leader planned a bilateral meeting of this kind. In his opinion, the Russian leadership has "no interest in any kind of meaningful diplomacy."

"So if there were a space for meaningful diplomacy, we’d take it. But we don’t see that. And in any event, this has to be resolved directly between Russia and Ukraine. So if Russia actually wants to talk and is serious about it, it should be talking with the Ukrainian Government," he added.
