22 dead, more than 50 missing in Venezuela landslide

22 people lost their lives and more than 50 people are missing as a result of the landslide that occurred after heavy rains in Venezuela.

According to SIA, torrential rains in the city of Las Tejerias, located west of the capital Caracas, caused many rivers to flood and landslides in the region. Venezuela's Vice President Delsy Rodríguez said that 22 people lost their lives as a result of the landslide, and the search for more than 50 missing people continues.

Noting that children were among those who lost their lives as a result of the natural disaster, Rodrigues said that 3 days of mourning have been declared in the country. Officials announced that many houses were destroyed due to torrential rains that lasted for more than an hour and a half in the region, and electricity was cut off in some residential areas.

Search and rescue operations are continuing in the region.
