Kalashnikov's newly created machine gun moves closer to production

"The work on the new light machine gun with belt ammunition RPL-202 is in the final stage."

SIA reports that Alan Lushnikov, the president of the Kalashnikov concern, informed TASS about this.

"We are currently in the development stage of RPL-20. Everything is carried out according to the full schedule."

This was stated by the president of the Concern.

He also noted that after the development of RPL-20 with 5.45 to 39 mm caliber, the concern will start creating a chambered version for NATO standard cartridges.

In November 2021, Sergey Urjumtsev, the chief designer of the Kalashnikov concern, said that the "RPL-20" could receive a chambered version for the 7.62x39 mm and 5.56x45 mm cartridges used in NATO countries.

In September of the same year, it became known that the tests of the prototypes of the "RPL-20" light machine gun had begun in Russia.

The first prototype of the machine gun was demonstrated at the "Army-2020" forum.
