Presidential term in Kazakhstan extended from 5 to 7 years

The presidential term in Kazakhstan has been extended from 5 to 7 years. The President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Jomart Tokayev has approved the relevant constitutional amendment, SIA refers to Kazakh media.

In his address to the people of Kazakhstan on September 1, Tokayev, proposed to hold extraordinary presidential elections in the fall of 2022. The head of state also proposed to reduce the maximum number of presidential terms from two to one, and to increase the presidential term from five to seven years.
