Charles III was officially proclaimed the head of state of Australia, SIA cites STS's broadcasted information on television.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said this at a parliamentary session held in Canberra. The head of government also noted that due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II, September 22 was declared a day of mourning in the country.
The prime minister will attend the queen's funeral on September 19.
