Assistant to Azerbaijani President criticizes UN leadership's non-visiting the region after conflict
"Questions have righteously been addressed by Ambassadors, who saw the scope of destruction in the liberated territories, that which aids are provided to Azerbaijan by international community, the UN and its sub-institutions? In fact, they should provide aid, Because Azerbaijan faced one of the most unique and terrible post-conflict conditions in the world.
We state clearly that, unfortunately, there is no any wide-scale activity by the UN and its sub-institutions in attitude to Azerbaijan," said Assistant of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev at the international conference in Shusha, SİA reports.
Hikmet Hajiyev said that after the end of the conflict, the top leadership of the UN has not yet visited the region:
"Normally, in post-conflict conditions that have lasted for more than 30 years and caused so many humanitarian disasters and tragedies, the region should have been visited at the level of the top leadership of the UN and the facts of the resolution of this conflict and the implementation of the resolutions of the UN Security Council, in fact, should have been appreciated. Unfortunately, just as the resolutions of the UN Security Council remained on the table for 30 years, we do not observe any serious activity by the UN leadership in this matter."
