The Justice Ministry of Ukraine has filed a lawsuit against Russia to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in connection with its special operation, Justice Minister Denis Malyuska has said.
"The Ministry of Justice has filed another lawsuit against Russia to the European Court of Human Rights," the minister said on his Facebook page (banned in Russia; owned by Meta Corporation, which is designated as extremist in Russia).
Kiev demands withdrawal of troops and monetary compensations.
"In the lawsuit, Ukraine accuses the Russian authorities of violating the European Convention on Human Rights," he said. "Within the framework of this lawsuit, Ukraine demands full withdrawal of Russian troops and financial compensation to the affected parties."
The lawsuit applies to the period between February 24 and April 7, when "Russian troops withdrew from the outskirts of Kiev."
