"Ukraine should declare special status and recognize Crimea" - David Payne

This plan to resolve the situation around Ukraine was proposed by the author of the magazine "National Interest", an expert and former military man David Payne.

SIA refers to Russian websites.

David Payne believes that the former Soviet republic should recognize Crimea and declare neutral status.

According to Payne, today Kiev's position in the negotiations is weakening, but the Western media continues to inaccurately portray Ukraine as the winner.

At the same time, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that Moscow was making progress in achieving its goals. Despite the delivery of military aid, Ukraine's weapons are running out.

Pine proposes the "most realistic plan for Ukraine." In order for Kiev to declare its neutral status, it must amend the constitution and its independence must be guaranteed by the permanent members of the UN Security Council.

He also proposed to recognize the unification of Crimea and Russia and to renounce the intention to return the peninsula.

According to the expert, an independence referendum is planned to be held in Donbass in September, and this referendum should be held under the supervision of the UN and other international organizations. Ukraine must renounce ties with NATO, including training and military exercises, and arms supplies.

Pine proposes to ban the deployment of NATO forces on Ukraine's territory. At the same time, Moscow must support Kiev's application to join the European Union.

The former serviceman offered Ukraine to destroy all the country's strike systems and reduce the military group to 150,000 and 100,000 reservists. Pyne also instructs the parties not to demand compensation. The United States and the European Union, as Russia has done with all NATO countries, must provide economic assistance to Kiev, which must restore diplomatic relations with Moscow.

He proposed to lift all anti-Russian sanctions, return confiscated property and establish trade relations as well.
