According to Finnish Defense Minister Antti Kaikkonen, the visits were planned several weeks ago. Another 20 training events are expected this year, eight of which are new and part of preparations for the "gray period" between NATO applications and membership.
The Defense Minister also said that the increase in joint trainings is one of the ways to demonstrate Finland's commitment to strengthen partnerships with allies in the application process for membership in the alliance. Therefore, "we will definitely see other visits in the coming months." At the same time, the minister stressed that this is not a big change, but it contributes to the defense of Finland.
