"These sanctions contradict the principles of the World Trade Organization"

Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed the government to update its strategy, saying sanctions against his country run counter to WTO principles.

According to the information obtained by SIA, during a meeting with government officials on the Russian metallurgical industry, Putin said: "Russia is a leader in the world steel industry.

Western countries impose illegal sanctions on Russian companies. These restrictions contradict the principles of the World Trade Organization, and my European colleagues have always reaffirmed their commitment on such issues.

I demand that the Cabinet of Ministers give a comprehensive assessment of the legitimacy of these steps by Western countries. I also instruct you to develop an updated strategy for our activities within the World Trade Organization by June 1.

The attitude of Western countries to sanctions against Russia will not change. The Russian metallurgical industry must also develop new strategies in this regard, including finding new suppliers and customers."
