"Humanist proposal" from Russia still unanswered

The Russian Armed Forces have given two hours from 14:00 to 16:00 Moscow time to surrender to the blockade in Mariupol.

According to Russian websites, the Russian Armed Forces have once again called on Ukrainian militants and foreign mercenaries, who have been blocked in Mariupol since 14:00 on April 20, to stop fighting and surrender their weapons.

The statement came from a statement posted on the website of the Russian Defense Ministry, SIA reports.

On Tuesday, April 19, Russian troops again opened a humanitarian corridor through the Azovstal plant in Mariupol to withdraw Ukrainian troops and militants, but no one took advantage of the Russians' "humanist offer," the military said.

At the same time, the Russian leadership guarantees the protection of the life, complete safety and a high level of medical care of anyone who lays down his arms.

According to Russian websites, the day before, the Russian Defense Ministry appealed to the Kyiv authorities to remove civilians from the Azovstal plant. The demand was made by the head of the Russian National Center for Defense Control, Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev.

Mizintsev noted that Russia guarantees the safe evacuation of civilians in any direction of their choice. The colonel-general stressed that the forcible detention of civilians as a "human shield" is terrorism.

In his appeal to the Kyiv authorities, Mizintsev also called on the militants to leave the meaningless resistance. He stressed that the unit commanders may not receive relevant orders from the Kyiv authorities, so the Russian Defense Ministry urges them to take this decision alone and then lay down their weapons.

Thus, today, from 14:00 to 16:00 Moscow time, all Ukrainian armed forces and foreign mercenaries, without exception, were required to leave Azovstal without any weapons and ammunition and surrender.
