UN: War could starve 47 million people

In the background of the Russia-Ukraine war, up to 47 million people around the world may face severe hunger due to the demand crisis.

According to SIA, this is stated in the report of the United Nations (UN) World Food Programme (WFP).

The organization predicts that the war will have a ripple effect on humanity: "The expected global rise in grain and energy prices in the market will put those who can not meet the minimum food needs before the war in a difficult situation."

Based on the results of research conducted in 81 countries, WFP shared two food security scenarios. In the first scenario, up to 33 million people in the world will face a severe famine due to the Russia-Ukraine war, and in the second scenario, up to 47 million.
